Government-backed innovation

Backed to build a better way to fight scams.

Unphish was developed with support from the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program, turning years of hands-on takedown work into a platform that finds, proves and removes digital threats at scale.

The journey

How the prototype became a platform.

We started with the work, then built the tools to do more of it.

  1. 01Hands-on casework

We spent years working takedowns ourselves, learning exactly what registrars, hosts and platforms need before they act.

  2. 02An early prototype

We built our first tools to speed up the slowest parts of the job, then ran a beta with leading Australian brands.

  3. 03A 2024 Industry Growth Program grant

A Commercialisation and Growth grant helped us refine and launch Unphish as one platform designed to scale.

  4. 04An operational platform

Today, detection, investigation and takedown sit in one place, used by organisations in Australia and overseas.

Why it mattered

Scams were growing faster than anyone could take them down by hand.

Phishing sites, fake accounts and copied apps were hitting organisations and their customers every day. Taking each one down meant hours of manual work. That works for one threat. It doesn’t work for hundreds.

  1. Find it

Someone stumbles on a threat, or a customer reports one. Each channel is checked separately, if at all.

Domains, social accounts, apps and ads are watched in one place, so new threats surface on their own.

  2. Prove it

Screenshots, registration records and hosting details are gathered by hand for every single case.

Evidence is captured automatically and packaged the way each provider asks for it.

  3. Send it

Work out who to contact, find the right form, write the request from scratch.

Each request goes down a provider-specific route, to the right place, in the right format.

  4. Chase it

Follow-ups live in someone’s inbox and spreadsheet. If the threat comes back, start again.

Every request and reply is tracked in one case history, and returning threats are picked up again.

The result: the same team can go after far more threats, and nothing slips through the cracks.

Who it’s for

Built for enterprise and government use.

Whether you’re protecting customers or citizens, you need takedowns that are consistent, well documented and easy to stand behind.

FAQ

Questions about our government backing.

What is the Industry Growth Program?

The Industry Growth Program is an Australian Government program that helps innovative small and medium businesses commercialize their ideas and grow, through expert advice and grant funding. Unphish received a grant under its Commercialisation and Growth stream.

How did the program help Unphish?

The grant, approved in July 2024, supported us to refine and launch Unphish as an enforcement case management platform for malicious domains, phishing and impersonation. It helped us build unified detection, automated evidence and takedown workflows guided by platform, industry and country rules.

Where does Unphish work?

We protect organizations in the US, the UK and Australia, with teams in all three, and we work with registrars, hosting providers and platforms all over the world.

Can government agencies use Unphish?

Yes. The platform was designed for both enterprise and government use, with evidence-backed takedown requests, one consistent process and a full case history that's ready for review or audit.

Can Unphish help with the FTC Impersonation Rule?

Yes. The FTC Impersonation Rule lets the FTC pursue scammers who impersonate businesses, with penalties up to $53,088 per violation. Unphish helps organizations detect, disrupt and document the impersonation scams that use their name.
